The University of Macau has purchased a limited license to pilot test the use of Poll Everywhere (PollEV) for classroom use.  Poll Everywhere is a web-based tool that allows one to collect feedback and responses from students or an audience.  It can be used for quizzing, brainstorming, taking attendance, informal feedback and a variety of other applications.  All that is required is that the participant (student) have a smartphone which can access the Internet and log into

UM faculty, staff and supervised graduate students can use Poll Everywhere to conduct polls with up to 800 concurrent unregistered anonymous participants. This allows an instructor to carry out informal formative assessments to determine levels of understanding, give immediate feedback on quizzes, and brainstorm. It is possible to use Poll Everywhere for other types of campus events where one would like to engage the audience with anonymous polls and feedback questions.

The license also allows us to use Poll Everywhere with students who are individually registered, allowing instructors to collect responses from individual students.  This approach requires that students be registered.  Student responses can be collected, processed through a spreadsheet and then integrated into the Moodle gradebook. Please contact Chris Fulton at or 8822-4574 for information on how you can use Poll Everywhere with your individually registered students.
